Christmas 2016 and New Years both fall on weekends this year, but that doesn’t mean that our favorite soap operas won’t be affected by the holidays. She Knows Soap recently revealed the holiday pre-emptions for General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives, and The Bold and the Beautiful.
This year Christmas Eve [Deember 24] will fall on a Saturday, and Christmas is on Sunday. New Year’s Eve will fall on a weekend as well.
DOOL, B&B, and Y&R will all stick to their regular schedules and air all new episodes on Friday December 23. However, General Hospital will be airing a re-run episode on ABC.
On Friday, December 30, General Hospital, Bold and Beautiful, and Young and the Restless will all be airing re-run episodes. NBC’s Days of Our Lives will be the only soap unaffected by the holidays and airing a new episode.
As of right now, these are the only soap opera holiday pre-emptions, our daytime dramas don’t seem too affected by the holidays at this point due to New Year’s and Christmas both falling on weekends.
