‘General Hospital’ News: Teresa Castillo Leaves For Maternity Leave – GH’s Sabrina Will Be Back

Well GH fans, we knew it was coming, we just did not know exactly “when”. Yes, we were told Teresa Castillo [Sabrina Santiago]’s last air date would be the end of December, and as of yesterday, Wednesday, January 13, 2016, it seems to have been “that day” she would depart Port Charles, NY to start her maternity leave.

Teresa auditioned for the role of Sabrina in mid-September, 2012, after the show’s casting director, Mark Teschner, noticed her on an episode of TNT’s now defunct series, Franklin & Bash. She has had the contract role since September 19, 2012 up to the present date.

Since Teresa is fairly new to the acting scene, so-to-speak, her resume is still an impressive one, with most of her on-screen work being done in 2010. She’s been on such “name” shows as:

• Cold Case – for one episode
• 90210 – for one episode
• CSI: Miami – for one episode
• Bones – for one episode
• Franklin & Bash – for the one episode mentioned above
• How I Met Your Mother – for one episode

‘GH’ has a three month Maternity Leave clause for its female contract players, and I am finding myself wondering how the show’s writers will announce her return. Will Sabrina sneak back into Port Charles quietly, in hopes of reaching her apartment undetected? Or, will she go to the Quartermaine’s in hopes of finding Michael (Quartermaine) Corinthos, III [Chad Duell] at home and welcomes her back with arms open?

I have to give kudos to Felix DuBois [Marc Samuel] for how he told Michael he was just a little too late to tell Sabrina he’d had a change of heart… and I did feel badly for Michael as we watched his face fall at the news she’d left Port Charles, and him, without saying a word to anyone, not really even telling Felix she was leaving.
