‘General Hospital’ News: Don Harvey Joins GH Cast As Liz’s Rapist Tom Baker

General Hospital (GH) sources have announced that actor Don Harvey will be taking on the role of Tom Baker, the man who raped Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst).  He will start appearing on screen during the week of Monday, November 14^th, 2016.

Fans might remember in 1998, that Tom Baker, aka Tom Yergin, raped Liz in the part when she was still a teenager in high school.  He was a photographer who blackmailed and terrorized Emily Quartermaine (Amber Tamblyn).  As Liz recounts the night it happened to Franco Baldwin, she tells him that if it weren’t for Lucky Spencer (then-Jonathan Jackson) finding her that night, she might not have survived.

Liz swore that it was her English teacher who had violently raped her, but once Lucky and his brother, Nikolas Cassadine (then-Tyler Christopher) did some of their own investigating, they discovered it was this photographer named Tom.

Tom held both Emily Quartermaine and Liz Webber at gunpoint, and confessed what he had done but before the situation could escalate any further, Tom was arrested and convicted; at that time the role was portrayed by actor James Sloyan.  Shortly after the conviction, Lucky was wrongfully assumed to have been killed in a fire and Jason Morgan became Elizabeth’s saving grace.

As the ABC network doesn’t comment on the contracts with their actors and actresses, the one thing we know for certain is that it’s clear Liz will be facing her rapist for the first time in decades.  Will she be able to handle this on her own, or will she have someone by her side?  Maybe the better question is who she will ultimately choose to be by her side, Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) or Jason Morgan (Billy Miller)?
