Bryan Dattilo as Lucas Horton
Bryan Dattilo had DOOL fans reaching for their tissue boxes when Lucas learned that Will (Guy Wilson) had been brutally murdered. Dattilo perfectly portrayed the anguish of a father grieving his loss. We saw more powerful moments as Lucas visited his son in the morgue and finally laid him to rest.
Billy Flynn as Chad DiMera
Billy Flynn debuted on “Days of Our Lives” as a recast in 2014, but he certainly made the role of Chad DiMera his own in 2015. Flynn consistently delivered fantastic performances as one-half of DOOL’s newest super couple, “Chabby.” Abigail (Kate Mansi) was taken aback when Chad poured out his heart and admitted that she was the love of his life. “Days” fans were equally surprised by Flynn’s raw talent.
Peter Reckell as Bo Brady
Peter Reckell’s return as Bo was fairly brief, but he packed a lot of emotion into his short stint on “Days of Our Lives.” Reckell took us on a journey as he saved Hope’s (Kristian Alfonso) life, reunited with his family and eventually said a difficult goodbye. It’s clear that Reckell deserves recognition for his stellar work.
Robert Scott Wilson as Ben Weston
Robert Scott Wilson took his character to a whole new level this year. Ben flew under the radar for a while, but his rage slowly began to build. When Ben was revealed as the Salem’s necktie killer, there was no turning back. Wilson was downright terrifying in his nutty role! “Days of Our Lives” viewers were glued to their screens as Ben sank deeper into insanity.
Kristian Alfonso as Hope Brady
Kristian Alfonso had to play an array of emotions as Hope tackled everything that came her way. Hope had a joyous wedding to Aiden (Daniel Cosgrove) and was nearly killed by her new husband hours later. She was shocked when Bo returned to save her and thrilled when she realized he was back in her life. Then, Hope had to deal with the sadness of letting Bo go and the anger she felt toward his kidnappers. Alfonso definitely took us along for the ride.
Kassie DePaiva as Eve Donovan (Larson)
When Paige (True O’Brien) was murdered at the hands of the necktie killer, Kassie DePaiva really brought her A-game as a mourning Eve. From cradling her daughter’s body in the morgue to having an all-out meltdown in her apartment, DePaiva made us feel Eve’s despair. Her grief was almost tangible.
Kate Mansi as Abigail Deveraux
Mansi was faced with the task of portraying a very torn woman in 2015. Abigail longed to be with Chad, but she felt obligated to stay with Ben for their child. Abby later found out that the baby belonged to Chad, but Abigail suffered in the meantime. Mansi had to show the terror of finding out her fiancé was a killer along with the determination of a mother fighting for her child’s life.
Peggy McCay as Caroline Brady
Peggy McCay did a great job depicting Caroline’s battle with an illness that mimicked Alzheimer’s disease. McCay gave us plenty of heartfelt performances as Caroline faded and then bounced back after receiving treatment. We also saw Caroline struggle to make everyone believe that Bo was coming home. McCay captured that intense frustration perfectly.
