‘Days of Our Lives’ News: James Read Confirms His Return To DOOL

Yesterday many ‘Days of Our Lives’ fans wished James Read (Clyde Weston) a “Happy Birthday”, as he celebrated his 63rd birthday. In response to the well wishes, he said “Thanks so much for the birthday wishes – So appreciate it! Be on the lookout – Clyde rides again in early September”.

James Read portrayed “Clyde Weston” on “DOOL.” Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow) sought him out while she was digging into Jordan Ridgeway’s (Chrishell Stause) past, looking for something to use against her after she got together with Kate’s ex, Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering). Kate went to Poplar Bluff and learned that he was Jordan’s (real name Tammy Sue) stepdad and Ben’s (Oliver) father. Clyde arrived in Salem in July 2014, looking for his children, although it was later revealed that he abused both of them and when Jordan’s mother passed away, Jordan took Ben and they left town. Clyde had been looking for them for years.

While in Salem, Clyde, who was a drug lord in Poplar Bluff, realized that there was more money in the trucking business running drugs than just in the drug business. This caused him to have a few enemies in town, including EJ DiMera (James Scott), who he eventually killed. When Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) tried to stake his claim on Salem and had Clyde shot; Clyde retaliated and stabbed Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith) in the back. When Victor found out that Clyde was responsible he backed off.

Clyde was revealed to be the local drug dealer. When Kyle Southern (Michael Cardelle) finds out from Eve Donovan (Kassie DePaiva) that JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) is working undercover for the DEA, Clyde kills him and offers JJ the job. JJ explains that Eve was just saying that because he had an affair with her. He also threatens JJ, that if he tells his son, Ben about the drug deals, he will kill JJ’s mother, Jennifer Horton (Melissa Reeves), his sister Abigail (then Kate Mansi) and his ex-girlfriend, Paige Larson (True O’Brien).

When Paige was found dead in her dorm room, JJ accuses Clyde of her murder. A secret investigation of Clyde leads to his arrest for drug trafficking and the murder of EJ. Clyde discovers JJ’s deception and tells his son, Ben about it. Roman Brady (Josh Taylor) reveals that Clyde is being extradited for a murder charge there. The last time we saw Clyde, was when Ben comes to a meeting at the police station, where Clyde tells Ben he is being extradited to Florida, and Ben reveals he is the “necktie killer”.
