‘Days Of Our Lives’ News: Award Winning Writer Melissa Salmons Leaves ‘DOOL’

‘Days of Our Lives’ script writer Melissa Salmons has left ‘DOOL.’ Melissa made the announcement via Twitter when answering a fan’s question.
On May 12 a viewer asked Melissa, “Curious if u had a hand in writing JNJ’s upcoming solo epi? At times like these fans want to know if their favs r in good hands.” Melissa answered, “Wrote 1 that was mostly JnJ. Should air soon? I’m no longer on Days, so not sure. My choice to go, more on new projects soon!”
It’s important to remember that ‘Days of Our Lives’ tapes approximately six months out. Melissa let fans know they will probably see several storylines she penned up until the end of October. “You won’t miss me for a loooonng time. Will still have air shows until Halloween! Big script-to-air time lag.”
Melissa Salmons was honored with the Richard B. Jablow Award at the 68th Annual Writers Guild Awards on February 13, 2016. Melissa won Daytime Emmys for her writing on ‘Guiding Light’ and ‘As the World Turns,’ and earned a total of seven Daytime Emmys over the course of her career writing soap operas.

In addition to ‘DOOL’ Melissa Salmons has written for ‘One Life to Live,’ ‘The Young and the Restless’ and ‘Another World.’
The ‘Days of Our Lives’ scriptwriter will be missed by viewers but she has several projects in the works. Melissa tweeted that she’ll share all that information with fans as soon as she is able.
