‘Days Of Our Lives’ News: Alum Matt Cedeno Joins Cast Of The CW’s ‘The Originals’

Former ‘Days of Our Lives’ star Matt Cedeño (aka Brandon Walker) just landed a juicy new role as a Klaus Mikaelson sire-line bloodsucker on The CW smash The Originals. Cedeño will play Cortez, a manipulative vamp who hits New Orleans looking for vengeance.

Cedeño’s Cortez will make his first appearance on season 3, episode 15 of The Originals which picks up from its mid-season hiatus on Friday, January 29. Cortez will hit NOLA on the March 4 episode of The Originals.

This season, everyone is gunning to take down the three Originals – Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah Mikaelson. And Cortez’s premiere episode is the same as the return of Kol Mikaelson. Are Kol and Cortez in league?

Cortez was not sired by Klaus but is of his sire line – and season three is all about sire lines… but looks like the devious fanger may be pals with Kol rather than Klaus but still has a bone to pick with his vamp grand-daddy.

You may also recognize Matt Cedeño from his role on Syfy’s zombie horror comedy Z Nation or Devious Maids. On Days of Our Lives, as Brandon Walker, he was heavily involved with Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), enjoyed tons of drama with his estranged father Abe Carver, and had his wife Angela die in his arms.

We can expect at least as much drama with Cortez on The Originals. At the mid-season finale, Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) had finally made a move on his long-time unrequited love Camille O’Connell (Leah Pipes) only to wake to find her throat had been slit and she’s dead – at the hands of Klaus’ insane ex Aurora.

Klaus and Elijah already had it in for their ill-behaved vampire offspring – the Strix, Tristan, Aurora and Lucien – but when we come back from the break, the revenge game will be on and Klaus and Elijah will be taking out their sired vamps like crazy.

It looks like Cortez will be one of the enemies of The Originals, not an ally, and may be working with Kol who is also ready to take down his siblings after a millennia of Mikaleson family angst.

Vampire Cortez is rumored to be one of the most dangerous that The Originals has seen and who was sired by a strange event. What could it be? One thing is for sure, Matt Cedeño is hot – as are all the vamps on The Originals – his Latin good looks will certainly be appreciated by fans.
