‘Days Of Our Lives’ Interview: Jonathon McClendon Exclusively Dishes On Filming Controversial ‘DOOL’ Rape Scene

Yesterday I had the utmost pleasure of interviewing Jonathon McClendon, who airs as Chase Jennings on NBC’s ‘Days of Our Lives.’ In our interview we were able to discuss a few things, such as what took place on yesterday’s episode of the soap – when his character raped Ciara (Vivian Jovani), his thoughts on playing the role, and Chase’s future.

On yesterday’s episode of ‘Days Of Our Lives,’ after a talk with Andre (Thaao Penghlis) Chase came to the conclusion that he needed to do things different in order to win Ciara’s love. Despite Ciara’s resistance, Chase was persistent that they both wanted each other. Chase covered Ciara’s mouth as he proceeded to rape her.

In regards to the actor’s personal struggles McClendon also let me in on a little secret about Dyslexia. Please take a look at the brief interview below:

“So how has been playing the role of Chase?”

It’s been soooo fun. As you can tell from my twitter and Snapchat, I’m very different from the character by a lot. And as an artist I enjoy playing roles opposite of my actual personality.
By the way, I apologize, I am dyslexic.

“How was it filming those rape scenes?”

Well since Vivian and I are very close. It was easier than you would expect but it was still hard on both of us. Rape is a very real thing. And it was hard for me to put aside how I felt about it and focus on what Chase wanted. She (Vivian) nailed those scenes.

“Indeed and our final question, what can you tell viewers to expect of Chase’s future?”

Well there’s not much else that can happen.
