In the 2014-2015 TV year, “The Young and the Restless” soap opera ratings were a bit shaky for a while there. But, they are steadily improving and actually went up 1% from the previous year. Y&R was averaging 5.4 Million viewers, which is actually their largest audience since 2009. So, it looks like the change in regime and Chuck Pratt’s takeover seems to be working out just fine for the daytime drama.
According to the official Nielsen report, “The Bold and the Beautiful” also grew with leaps and bounds, went up 2% from the previous year – and delivered the largest ratings since 2005! Ironically, the network’s leading daytime show was not the soap operas, but actually “The Price Is Right,” which continues to be the number one program all across the board, beating out every other network’s daytime shows. And, for you talk show fans – “The Talk” actually beat out “The View” in the 2014-2015 TV year.
Are you surprised that CBS hasn’t been knocked off their throne for nearly three decades? Do ABC or NBC soaps ever stand a chance of beating Y&R and B&B? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
