‘The Young and The Restless’ (Y&R) RUMORS: Burgess Jenkins Out As Billy Abbott – Who Will Step Into The Role?

“The Young and the Restless” spoilers tease that Burgess Jenkins could be OUT as Billy Abbott. Daytime Confidential reported that he had confirmation from CBS that Burgess Jenkins was given his walking papers. It’s not a secret that Burgess has not been well received from the long-time fans. It seems like TPTB finally listened to their fans and released Jenkins from his contract. So, who will they cast as Billy Abbott?

Billy Abbott is an iconic role that would affect many characters if they decided to write him out of the show. It makes much more sense for them to recast the role. Ever since, Billy Miller left the role in early 2014, the show has struggled to find the right Billy for the role. David Tom was not a good fit for the role, either- which is ironic because he was the first Billy [ appeared 1999-2002] that played the role.

It looks like CBS is considering casting Jason Thompson in a major iconic role. No one has confirmed that he will be the new Billy, but it is looking very possible. The Internet rumors state that Billy will suffer terrible burns in the Halloween gala fire, and need plastic surgery. It looks like when he recovers they will uncover his brand-new face, and a new actor will step into the role.

Before the fans suggest Billy Miller reprising his role on “The Young and the Restless,” that is highly unlikely. He has made it clear that “General Hospital” is his new home, and touted how happy he is with his role and relationship with the writers.

Remember the days when a new actor took over the role, a voice would say, “The role of Billy Abbott will now be portrayed by…” Those days are long gone, and currently they must explain why he looks different.
