“The Young and the Restless” Sharon Newman [Sharon Case] had her christening on the show Thursday, December 3. After the ceremony, Sage Newman [Kelly Sullivan] asked if she could hold the newborn. Sage never held her baby before he died, so she wanted to hold Sharon’s son in hopes it may make her feel better. Will Sage realize the baby is actually hers, or will she not recognize him without the tubes and wires?
Sage held the infant and for a brief moment, you thought she may recognize the newborn. She had an uneasy look on her face because she felt sad knowing she will never hold Christian. She did NOT recognize the baby as her baby, as speculated. Instead, when she held the little one made her angry with husband, Nick Newman [Joshua Morrow] for not allowing her time to hold the baby and grieve properly.

On Friday, December 4, Sage tells Nick she is angry with him for not letting her hold their child after he passed away. She should have seen him and held him, even though it was difficult. Of course, fans know that it would have been hard for her to hold her son as he was alive and well with the shady nurse who’s in cahoots with Dr. Anderson [Elizabeth Bogush].
It’s beginning to seem unlikely that the storyline will wrap up anytime soon. It looks like they are moving towards a Sage/ Adam [Justin Hartley] pairing, throwing Nick and Chelsea [Melissa Claire Egan] together.
“The Young and the Restless” writers missed a HUGE opportunity when Sage held her baby. She should have FELT something as if she KNEW him. Instead, she was clueless and just taken with the fact he was little and downright adorable. Sage should have told Nick at the park that she thought Sharon’s child could be her child. Instead, Nick and Sage got into another argument about Sage’s attitude.

The truth is Sage MAY feel a connection to ‘Sullivan,’ but isn’t sure what the familiarity of the infant could be. Maybe, she brushes it off as her grieving and wanting him to take the place of her child. Chuck Pratt revealed in a candid interview that the writers didn’t have plans to wrap up the storyline anytime soon, so one can expect months on end of this madness.
