‘The Young And The Restless’ News: Scott Elrod Officially Out At ‘Y&R’ – Joe Clark Not Returning

'The Young And The Restless' News: Scott Elrod Officially Out At 'Y&R' - Joe Clark Not Returning“The Young and the Restless” hunk Scott Elrod is officially OUT on the CBS soap opera, according to Soap Opera Digest. Joe Clark, Scott Elrod’s character, was sentenced to a six-year prison sentence out of state. It doesn’t come as a huge shock to fans since the writers hit a road block with Scott’s character and they were sure how to integrate him into Genoa City as a respected citizen.

A few days ago, Devon Hamilton [Bryton James] and Cane Ashby [Daniel Goddard] talked about Joe’s fate. Devon tells Cane that it was good that Joe was able to settle on a plea deal with Christine [Lauralee Bell]. Cane explained, “Well, he admitted to extorting money from you and to frame me. He’s gonna start his sentence immediately.”  Devon noted that he will be far away so Cane won’t have to be afraid anymore.

Fans immediately picked up on the fact Joe’s fate was handled off screen after so much focus on the blackmail, extortion, and Lily’s [Christel Khalil] affair storylines. The viewers deserved a proper closure to Joe’s character, and it seemed very rushed.

One of the reasons that his character was abruptly rushed off canvas was Scott Elrod landed a prime time role on ABC “Grey’s Anatomy.” He will be portraying Dr. Will Thorpe. Scott Elrod noted on Instagram that he hung up his business suits, and traded them in for a white coat.

Scott Elrod has no reason to return to Y&R. His character never had an impact on the show, he was always a secondary character. The only time he stood out was when he fell off of the roof top of a building and landed in a dipsy dumpster. Good luck to him on Grey’s Anatomy.

Writers never developed Joe Clark as a proper character but instead always set him up as a bad guy. Never paired him with anyone as he was just the odd man out.
