‘The Young And The Restless’ Interview: Miles Gaston Villanueva Discusses Luca And Marisa, Plus First Day On ‘Y&R’ Set

“The Young and the Restless” (Y&R) Miles Gaston Villanueva (Luca) is ready for the unexpected to happen in Genoa City. Miles isn’t certain what TPTB have planned for Luca but the actor has nothing but praise for the storyline the writers have given his character so far. Villanueva is excited to find out what is in store for Luca.

This isn’t Miles Gaston Villanueva’s first time portraying a character on “The Young and the Restless.” Some viewers may recognize him as the priest who helped Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) find their long-lost son Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton). Luca may be completely different than the kind-hearted priest Miles portrayed the first time he was on “Y&R,” but Villanueva doesn’t want Luca to be stuck as a one-dimensional villain. In the most recent issue of Soaps In Depth Miles said about Luca, “I want him to be as human and complex as possible.” Right now Luca isn’t very popular in Genoa City, and his wife Marisa Sierras (Sofia Pernas) wishes her wealthy and charming husband would disappear.

Miles says that Sofia Pernas is a fantastic co-star – he compliments her saying, “She’s ready to roll…and she is a very beautiful woman. So, It’s not a bad gig.” Doug Davidson is another co-star Villanueva is happy to have on his side – at least personally. Doug was the first one to show Miles around the set on the actor’s first day of work on “The Young and the Restless.” Miles recalls that Davidson was a godsend that very first day on-set! “I don’t know what I would have done that first day without Doug!” The veteran actor made it easy for the newbie right from the beginning.

“The Young and the Restless” fans have been receptive to Luca. Villanueva has had many ups and downs since arriving in Hollywood nearly three years ago. Though acting is a challenging career Miles knows just how lucky he is to be a member of the “Y&R” cast.
