The popular daytime soap premiered on ABC April 1, 1963 and was originally one-half-hour. Their OM Gosh moment was in 1981 when the wedding of Luke and Laura brought a whopping 30-million viewers! This record still remains unbroken today as the highest rated hour in American Soap Opera History.
