“Days of Our Lives” Deidre Hall (Dr. Marlena Evans) sat down with People Now to answer fans questions as the daytime drama approaches its 50th anniversary. People magazine has a special “DOOL” collector’s edition which features Hall, who has portrayed Marlena on “Days of Our Lives” for 35 years.
Fans submitted questions for Hall via Twitter and she was happy to answer them – the best she could without giving too much away! One viewer wanted to know when Marlena Evans and John Black (Drake Hogestyn are going to get remarried ON SCREEN and have a honeymoon ON SCREEN & STAY married?!?! Deidre’s answer was evasive but gave viewers a little tease, “I will remind you, we’re five months ahead of you so you can just relax!”

Another viewer asked why Deidre Hall thought the character of Dr. Marlena Evans is so popular. Hall replied, “I think Marlena is every woman, and I think of her as a woman who has gone through the stages of her life as I have.” Hall explained Marlena has grown and matured much as she has – getting that first job, then meeting a man and falling in love and getting married and starting a family and trying to balance it all. Women can identify with that struggle – and that’s what makes Marlena Evans a fan favorite.
And though Deidre Hall feels that Marlena Evans and she are “kind of wrapped up in each other,” she would not like to BE the good Dr. Evans. “I like my life. [Marlena] has a lot of responsibility and she has a lot of complications, and that possession thing was a little untidy. So, no…I wouldn’t change places.”
“Days of Our Lives” fans have much to look forward to in the weeks and months ahead. Stay tuned because with the return of many veteran fan favorites “DOOL” is definitely pulling out all the stops to make this quite possibly THE year to remember!
